The course is designed to introduce participants to low-carbon urban mobility. The concept focuses on decarbonising urban mobility and promoting environmentally friendly travel with minimal impact on the climate while generating positive effects on society and the local economy. Comprised of ten videos, it covers essential topics such as planning, designing, financing, implementing, and assessing low-carbon urban mobility modes.  Upon completion of the course, participants will gain insights into:

  1. The importance of low carbon mobility in decarbonising transport
  2. Transport modes integral to low-carbon mobility solutions
  3. The factors that need to be considered while designing for low-carbon mobility options
  4. Various funding opportunities available for implementing low-carbon mobility initiatives
  5. Strategies for Planning and implementing electric urban mobility solutions

This course content was curated for the Decarbonising Transport for Emerging Economies (DTEE) project – India segment. The material is developed for the DTEE project and compiled from existing material developed by other projects working on the topic, allowing course takers to experience a more comprehensive array of implementation experiences.

Are you passionate about combating climate change through sustainable urban transportation? Join our course to discover practical strategies for reducing carbon emissions and maximising urban transport’s decarbonising potential.   Whether you’re a city official, transport planner, student, lecturer, or civil society member, this course is tailored to equip you with the knowledge and tools to view urban transport through a low-carbon lens. By the end of this course, you’ll gain insights into synergies within your current work and learn actionable steps for planning and implementing sustainable transport projects.

The DTEE project aims to help governments of emerging countries establish pathways to reducing transport CO2 emissions and meet CO2 reduction pledges under the Paris Agreement. It does this by conducting transport emission assessments that cover all transport modes. It builds capacities to evaluate and revise transport policies, identify transport policies that reduce transport emissions, and initiate dialogues between key decision-makers to apply the measures in the projects.   The DTEE project received funding from the German Environment Ministry through the International Climate Initiative project and is implemented by the OECD’s International Transport Forum and the Wuppertal Institute. The DTEE project countries are Argentina, Azerbaijan, India and Morocco.
